The 2020 TEG International Jazz Fest Presented by Spirit Bank! Takes place Friday June 6th, 6-9 pm at the Guthrie Green. This incredible Free concert is part of the Tulsa Arts District’s monthly 1st Friday Art Crawl which averages 2000-3000 attendees per event!
This is an official 2020 International Jazz Day event! In 2016 TulsaJazz.Com had the honor of being the producer of Tulsa’s first official participation since the event’s inception in 2012. (See www.jazzday.com for additional details).
Featured Artists: Jazz and Blues Artist Chanda Graham from Oklahoma City, Smooth Jazz Artists The Max Groove Trio from Kansas City , and a Jazz Band Battle Royale, featuring guest Vocalist Cynthia Simmons, reminiscent of the Duke Ellington/Count Basie Bands battles of years gone by between the Tulsa Community College Jazz Ensemble and the North Eastern State University Jazz Ensemble!
“International Jazz Day is the culmination of Jazz Appreciation Month, which draws public attention to jazz and its extraordinary heritage throughout the month of April.
In December 2012, the United Nations General Assembly formally welcomed the decision by the UNESCO General Conference to proclaim April 30 as International Jazz Day.
The United Nations and UNESCO now both recognize International Jazz Day on their official calendars.” (Taken from jazzday.com)
